Privacy
Quiet by design.
Effective 13 August 2026
The short version
Nod is designed to work without an account and to keep listening progress on your device first. We do not sell personal information, run advertising profiles, or attempt to infer when you sleep.
Information on your device
The app stores an anonymous identifier, preferences, listening position, completed-book status, timer choices, and downloaded audio on your device. This lets Nod remember your place and work when the network is unavailable.
Information our services may receive
When online features are enabled, our services may receive an anonymous identifier, basic app and device diagnostics, catalogue requests, download events, and listening events needed to operate and improve Nod. We aim to collect the minimum useful information and avoid source text, audio content, contact lists, precise location, health data, and advertising identifiers.
Accounts and purchases
Nod does not require an account for its core experience. If optional accounts or paid access are introduced, we will update this notice before collecting account information. App Store purchases are processed by Apple; Nod receives transaction and entitlement information rather than your complete payment-card details.
Service providers
We may use carefully selected infrastructure, error-monitoring, and privacy-conscious analytics providers to deliver the catalogue, diagnose failures, and understand broad product reliability. They may process limited technical information on our behalf under their own security obligations.
Retention and choices
Local app information remains until you remove downloads, reset the app, or delete it. Operational records are retained only as long as reasonably needed for security, reliability, legal obligations, and aggregate product understanding. You may contact us to ask about information associated with you.
Children
Nod is a general-audience bedtime reading app and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes and contact
We will post material changes here with a new effective date. Questions or privacy requests can be sent to hugs@nodbooks.com.
This launch-stage notice describes Nod's intended data-minimising design. It must be reviewed against the final production integrations and App Store privacy declarations before release.
